I have stayed here many times, either arriving or prior to leaving via the SJO airport. The downtown location makes it an easy walk to restaurants, a pharmacy, bookstores, or the park downtown for people watching. We literally book our flight to not miss breakfast at the Alajuela City Hotel (old name “Los Volcanes”). the staff are fluent in English and are very helpful to all guests. For me, this is a must stay location when passing through.
